Jonah and The Whale - by Pastor Tony for Kids 5 and under

If you have children (or grandchildren) age 5 or under, turn off the TV, sit them down with a snack and tell them to be quiet while you read them a story.   Children older than 5 might be interested also, because this is not a fairy tale, but a true story.   I have embellished and dramatized it a bit for story telling, but the essential facts of the story are true.   Jonah and the Whale Once there was a man named Jonah.   He loved God very much and talked to God all the time.   And God talked to him also.          Jonah lived near a city called Nineveh.   Nineveh was a very bad place and the people who lived did very evil things.   So God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and tell the people to stop doing bad things and start to worship God, but Jonah didn’t want to go there.          Jonah disobeyed God and instead of going to Nineveh like God told him to, he we...

Cosmic Musings or Worship

Many of you know that I pray through ‘The Believer’s Prayer’ (or The Our Father).  It takes me a long time to get through the entire prayer as I pray for many things and many people.  But, when I get to that last phrase, I get stuck – “For thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory forever, Amen!” At the end of my prayer time, I return to worship of the Lord with this phrase.  I consider the galaxies of stars in the sky.  An innumerable amount of brilliant burning globes stretched out so far in the heavens that man cannot even begin to see the end of them. I consider our universe, which consists of one star – our sun.  What is it?  A burning globe of what?  How big is it?  What is it made of?  It just burns and burns forever.  The smallest ‘flare’ can cause incredible damage in our own world.  God made the sun just so big and just so bright – His perfect order.
